Hon. Dr. Abu Bakr Omar Al-Bushra: Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Sudan. Dr. Al-Bushra holds a Bachelor’s degree in Plant Breeding and Genetics from Faisalabad Agricultural University, Pakistan, a Master’s degree in Gum Arabic from Bakhtul Ruda University and a PhD in Forestry Ecology from the same university. He is a distinguished scientist with over 35 years of academic experience as Associate Professor in various universities. As an Agricultural Engineer, he worked as agricultural inspector at the beginning of his career. Dr. Al-Bushra represents Sudan in many national, regional and international forums as a distinguished agricultural expert and currently involves in a number of national, regional and global bodies working in agriculture. Dr. Al-Bushra is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sudanese Agricultural Bank, the Arab Sudanese Seed Company, the Irtiqaa Agricultural Company. He is also Chairman of the Board of Directors of many national agricultural production schemes such as the Gezira Scheme, New Halfa Agricultural Corporation, Suki Agricultural Corporation and Al-Rahad Corporation. Dr. Al-Bushra is an innovative, ethical, and accomplished transformational leader with a long-standing interest in the agricultural sector and social work.
